I’ve been asked: How can someone simplify their writing and still get the point across to the reader?
How to simplify writing? It’s an art and a craft and not everyone is good at it but most writers can learn it with sufficient effort.
First you write whatever you are writing. Then you go back over it and delete all the extra words.
Then you delete the second and third times you said the same thing.
Then you rephrase to tighten the things you said that took too many words.
Then you’ll likely discover that there’s not much left, which is good.
So then, finally, you very, very carefully rewrite those few kernels of golden wisdom that remain so they say what you want them to say without saying anything extra.
Like I said, it’s an art.
